A Single-Story Home with a Basement Brings All-Season Comfort

The layout is one of the best parts about designing your dream home. And here at TruStone Homes, there is one floor plan that stands out more than others in our climate- the single-story home with a finished basement!

Seasonal Perks

Having main-level living combined with a spacious basement means your home naturally adapts to every seasonal shift Idaho throws your way. During warm Idaho summers, subterranean basement walls naturally stay cooler, giving you a refreshing escape during those unbearable July and August days. When autumn arrives, single-story living offers effortless main-floor access to your back patio, outdoor fire pit, and mudroom. When winter rolls in, as it soon will, the earth-insulated lower level retains heat wonderfully to create a snug thermal zone for family movie nights. Finally, during spring rains that lower level transforms into an all-weather sanctuary for indoor play for the kids!

Smart Layout Advantages You'll Love Every Day

Accessibility Now and in the Future: With your primary bedroom suite, kitchen, laundry room, and main living areas all on the ground floor, you get easy stair-free living for your daily routines.

Built-in Thermal Efficiency: Because a significant portion of a basement sits below the ground line, earth acts as natural insulation. This helps maintain stable temperatures year-round and keeps your monthly energy bills manageable!

Flexible Space for Guests and Hobbies: Need extra bedrooms for visiting relatives, a quiet home office, a workshop, or a dedicated theater room? A basement doubles your functional square footage without creating a towering, hard-to-cool two-story footprint above ground.

Step 3 of the TruStone Homes Journey-Breaking Ground

If you’ve been following along with our homebuilding guide, you know we’ve already covered two monumental milestones on the path to your dream home built by yours truly, TruStone Homes. In the first step, Vision & Discovery, we laid down the first foundation. One of honesty. And we also aligned your lifestyle wishes with real-world budgets. In step 2, Pre-Construction & Design, we finalized floor plans, locked in material selections, and made sure there’ll be no hidden surprises down the road. So now that the blueprints are pristine and the contract is signed, it’s time for step 3, to break ground.

You get to stand on your lot and watch the heavy machinery roll in. You get to see the first shovel hit dirt. You get to see planning on paper begin to take form into a physical creation. We will thereafter set the site up for proper excavation, foundation pouring, and structural framing. Since we covered all the paperwork in the first two steps, now you can see your trust wasn’t unfounded. It’ll be a celebration rather than a stress point.

Never Miss a Beat with Seamless Communication

Now that we transitioned into actually building your home that doesn’t mean we just leave you in the dark. More than ever, we continue to communicate with you regularly and transparently. We use specialized software to keep you updated with photos and progress reports, so you always feel connected to the build regardless of your schedule. And we know it’ll bring you peace to know that no matter where you are or what you’re doing, you can log in anytime to watch your home take shape and celebrate every milestone right alongside us!
